Dr. Slater grew up in Big Bear Lake California where she started her career as a veterinary technician at VCA Lakeside Animal Hospital. She worked at VCA for 6 ½ years and started her schooling at a community college. She started working at the local zoo part-time while still working at VCA so she could gain more experience with exotics, which is a passion of hers. She moved to Fresno California in 2012 to continue her schooling at Fresno State while working at local animal hospital as a veterinary technician. She received her Bachelor degree in Animal Science/Pre-Vet in May of 2015 from Fresno State. She got accepted into St. George’s University School of Veterinary Medicine and completed her clinical at University of Illinois, and graduated from St. George’s in January of 2020. Dr. Slater currently resides in Fresno with her significant other, their dog Sophie, and their two cats Kitty and Cleo. Dr. Slater enjoys performing surgical procedures, internal medicine and exotic medicine.
